~While Roleplaying~~
No God-Modding! - Your Character isn't God, so don't act like it; bullets can kill you, and Cops can tackle you, and while these things don't always do so, they have the potential. Don't shrug off gun-fire from another player, because if you do, you're more or less shrugging the player off entirely, and that's in bad taste.
Tasteful Language, Sort of. - Your character can cuss, but when in doubt, stay PG-13. "You son-of-a-bitch!" is fine. "God damn Feds!" is perfectly okay. "Fuckin' shit, I just got stabbed in the mother-fucking liver!" Is a little edgy-- tone it down, or at the very least, limit the use of the BIG profanities. Dropping the F bomb every other word isn't tasteful, but if you use it now and again, when the situation calls for it, that's fine. On racial slurs and hyper-sensitive terminology.. don't push it. This is fictional, and Race/Gender/Ethnic disputes don't belong in Chancellor City anymore than they do in Gotham City-- you never heard Batman make a Jew Joke, and you know it. So no N-Words, ethnic obscenities of any kind; you might be able to push the envelope, but be ready to apologize and accept the consequences if you do.
Sexuality: Limited- Be suggestive, be sexy, be sleazy; but don't be obscene about it. No overt sexual acts; you can flirt, heck, if you're into that thing you can get romantic, and you can even allude to things of a sexual nature-- after all, it's based on Gangsters, right? But we don't want to hear the sweaty, fleshy details, really. (We have porn for that.)
Violence: UNlimited.- But be realistic. "Billy opened fire with the 12-gauge shotgun, blasting a gory, gaping hole through the nearest goon; blood, guts, and entrails soaked the mobsters behind him, who fell into fetal positions, screaming." That's nasty; but it's fine, ever seen a dude get shot with a shotgun? It's nasty, too. "Billy grasped the bartender by the throat, and squeezed until his eyes ruptured, and his brain leaked out of his ears." Not so fast, Billy. If you saw the violence in an R-Rated Gangster-Movie, typically, it's fine. Blood, guts, whatever, just don't make it purely for unrealistic shock value. Machineguns won't lop off heads, typically, so keep it in mind.
While Chatting!
Be Respectful! Don't be overly blunt, offensive, and certainly don't be derogatory. If you're just chatting, no need for lots of profanity, because people might get the wrong idea; if it's friendly, no harm done, but be sure the other party isn't offended by it. You can get away with it in the Roleplaying, but keep it civil when dealing with other people personally.
Be Mindful of Administration Our word isn't written in stone, but if they're Administrators or myself, they probably know what they're saying-- and reserve the right to kick your yappy ass out, if you piss enough people off. Common sense rules apply, but if you feel you've been mistreated, contact me, and I'll check on the details; the Almighty Shelby, she shall almost certainly forgiveth your sins against her sacred Chatroom, if given a proper apology to pass on to the offended party.
